Key Lime Podcast

            En tant qu’ophtalmologistes, bon nombre d’entre nous ont de multiples rôles à jouer au cours de notre journée, y compris ceux de clinicien, de chercheur et d’éducateur. La faculté de médecine et la résidence nous impartissent généralement les connaissances médicales, les habiletés cliniques et les compétences en recherche dont nous avons besoin pour notre carrière. Cependant, nous sommes souvent laissés à nous-mêmes pour apprendre à devenir éducateurs. J’aime tellement le volet d’enseignement de mon travail que j’ai décidé de faire une maîtrise en éducation dans les professions de la santé, il y a quelques années. Lorsque j’ai rencontré d’autres éducateurs en médecine du monde entier au cours de mes études et à l’occasion de conférences, j’ai remarqué qu’un thème commun revenait constamment lorsqu’ils apprenaient que j’étais Canadien : on disait que le Canada est un chef de file respecté en éducation médicale! Personnellement, je n’en avais aucune idée, mais j’ai rapidement appris que notre CanMEDS est un favori en éducation (et que le modèle a été adopté dans plusieurs autres pays), que la Conférence internationale sur la formation des résidents (CIFR) organisée par notre Collège royal est très populaire et que les gens ADORENT les balados KeyLIME (Key Literature in Medical Education), également produits par notre Collège royal. J’ai commencé à écouter ces balados après avoir entendu tant de gens les mentionner et je dois dire que j’ai vraiment hâte à chacun des prochains épisodes! Ces balados diffusés chaque semaine présentent un article sur l’éducation en médecine en 20 minutes à peine. Ils ne portent pas sur une spécialité en particulier et c’est une excellente façon de se tenir au courant de ce qui se passe dans le monde de l’éducation médicale. Un balado que je recommanderais en particulier porte sur un article publié en 2018 dans Ophthalmology. Il s’agit de l’épisode n^o 166 intitulé « Art, eyeballs and #MedEd ». Il s’agit d’une étude sur l’utilisation de la formation en arts visuels pour enseigner des techniques d’observation aux étudiants en médecine.
