Glaucoma OCT Interpretation is an online, Section 3 accredited course available at EyeCarePD.com. A game-based approach is applied to learning OCT interpretation. This course covers commonly encountered OCT presentations of glaucoma as seen on standard optic nerve head and retinal nerve fiber layer scan protocols with the purpose of improving interpretation skills using perceptual learning strategies.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify segmentation errors and their role in OCT scan interpretation

This activity is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Il n’existe aucune autre solution ophtalmique de bétaxolol commercialisée au Canada.  Novartis a indiqué qu’il s’agit d’une décision mondiale irréversible. L’arrêt de commercialisation a déjà eu lieu dans d’autres régions du monde. Nous avons créé un petit document à l’intention de nos collègues en prévision de ce changement.

Nous espérons que les professionnels de la santé accompagneront leurs patients durant l’arrêt du médicament. D’autres stratégies de prise en charge peuvent inclure le passage à une autre classe de médicaments topiques pour le glaucome (p. ex. analogue de la prostaglandine, inhibiteur de l’anhydrase carbonique, agoniste alpha) en l’absence de contre-indication³, l’augmentation de la disponibilité oculaire tout en diminuant l’absorption systémique des autres traitements par la fermeture des paupières ou l’occlusion nasolacrymale⁴, la trabéculoplastie au laser⁵, la chirurgie du glaucome à invasion minimale ou la chirurgie à effraction minimale avec bulle de filtration⁶, ou encore la chirurgie du glaucome par incision⁷. Les besoins des patients et la disponibilité des traitements varieront selon les régions du pays. La Société canadienne d’ophtalmologie (SCO) et la Société canadienne de chirurgie oculoplastique (CSOPS) ont pour mission de garantir les normes les plus élevées en matière de soins aux patients et de pratique professionnelle dans les domaines de l’ophtalmologie et de la chirurgie oculoplastique. Le recours croissant à la technologie au plasma pour réaliser une blépharoplastie et sa promotion dans divers médias, y compris celle faite par les influenceurs des médias sociaux, nécessitent que nous fournissions des conseils et des renseignements clairs à nos membres et au public. • Comprendre l’importance de l’éthique dans notre profession et se renseigner sur les qualités incarnées par le médecin éthique. 

Joignez-vous à Elisabeth Fowler, chef de la direction de la Société canadienne d’ophtalmologie, qui se penchera sur le rôle de la représentation en ophtalmologie. Découvrez comment la représentation façonne la pratique clinique, stimule la recherche, sensibilise le public et influence les politiques en santé. La D^re Mona Dagher, présidente de la SCO et modératrice, parle des mises à jour prometteuses apportées au processus de planification et des grandes lignes de ce qui attend les membres au Congrès annuel 2025 de la SCO à Vancouver. La D^re Dagher discute de la façon dont l’événement s’annonce comme une expérience extraordinaire pour les ophtalmologistes canadiens, avec la présence d’experts de renommée mondiale dans chaque surspécialité.

Le D^r Samir Jabbour examine les lignes directrices existantes pour le don de cornée et leurs conséquences sur le système canadien de banques d’yeux. Sa présentation traitera des limitations particulières vécues par les donneurs de cornée de la communauté HSH et explorera les possibilités futures d’améliorer cette règlementation.

La D^re Chryssa McAlister dirige un cabinet diversifié d’ophtalmologie générale avec une orientation universitaire axée sur la bioéthique, et organise le cours biennal Macrae sur la bioéthique et le professionnalisme à l’intention des résidents séniors en ophtalmologie. La D^re McAlister prononce fréquemment des allocutions dans le cadre de conférences sur la bioéthique en ophtalmologie et la formation médicale. Sa présentation mettra en lumière la façon de cultiver des vertus dans un modèle d’affaires en ophtalmologie. 

Le D^r Cyril Archambault s’est donné pour mission de sensibiliser chaque ophtalmologiste canadien à la prévention des blessures et à l’ergonomie. Sa présentation mettra en relief la solide collaboration et les efforts du nouveau groupe de travail de la SCO ainsi que ses objectifs ambitieux pour les prochaines années. Pas de souci – nous ne vous laisserons pas tomber!
