The International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH) works to improve\neye health and eliminate avoidable visual impairment and blindness with a focus\non low-income populations. The ICEH has a number of global ophthalmology\nresources, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/iceh\/community-eye-health-journal\/\"><strong>Community Eye Health Journal<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>&#8211; The Community Eye\nHealth Journal aims to make sure up-to-date, relevant information reaches eye\ncare workers at all levels in countries where the burden of eye disease and\nblindness is greatest. Journal readers often have little access to other\nsources of information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.lshtm.ac.uk\/iceh\/isgeo\/\"><strong>International Society Geographical &amp;\nEpidemiological Ophthalmology<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; The aim of ISGEO is to promote the\nscience of geographic and epidemiologic ophthalmology among all people and\nnations. This aim encompasses the epidemiological, clinical, educational,\nenvironmental and cultural aspects of eye disease, prevention of blindness,\npreservation of sight and visual rehabilitation. ISGEO provides a forum for\npresentation and discussion of research findings, focussing on low resource\ncountries. As epidemiology encompasses the control of diseases in population,\nresearch presentations are welcomed in areas such as operational research,\nhealth economics, health systems research and qualitative research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.futurelearn.com\/courses\/global-blindness\"><strong>MOC: Global Blindness: Planning\nand Managing Eye Care Services<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 This course, developed by LSHTM,\naims to help learners plan and manage eye care, to avoid blindness. Topics\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Epidemiological\ndata on the causes and prevalence of blindness and visual impairment<\/li><li>VISION 2020: The Right\nto Sight<\/li><li>The Global Action\nPlan 2014-2019<\/li><li>Key public health\nstrategies for cataract and refractive error<\/li><li>Health systems\nstrengthening<\/li><li>The essentials of\nthe planning process for eye care programmes<\/li><li>The principles of\nmonitoring and evaluation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lshtm.ac.uk\/study\/courses\/masters-degrees\/public-health-eye-care\"><strong>Course &#8211;\nMSc Public Health for Eye Care<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 This programme provides ophthalmic\nprofessionals with the knowledge and skills required to reduce blindness and\nvisual disability in their populations by developing an evidence-based public\nhealth approach for the control and management of blinding eye diseases. It\nenables students to contribute effectively at a local, national and\ninternational level in research, training and service delivery.
