Ocular surface disease (OSD) is a common yet often underdiagnosed comorbidity in glaucoma. OSD negatively impacts patient adherence, quality of life, and surgical outcomes, making its management a crucial aspect of glaucoma care. A structured, stepwise approach—including environmental modifications, preservative-free treatments, immunomodulators, and procedural alternatives—can optimize both ocular surface health and glaucoma control, ultimately improving patient outcomes. This module will present a step by step, evidence-based approach that can be considered for the management of OSD in glaucoma patients.
Course Objectives
- Explore the clinical significance of OSD in glaucoma patients.
- Identify important factors contributing to OSD among glaucoma patients.
- Understand key strategies to reduce the effects of OSD minimize OSD risk in glaucoma patients.
- Introduce a proposed algorithm for the management of OSD in glaucoma.
