Join us for an upcoming EyeNovation webinar, “Choosing the Right Tool: Patient Selection for SLT, MIGS, and Minimally Invasive Bleb Filtering Surgery,” taking place on December 11, 2026, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. ET.
With a growing range of lasers, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and filtering options, choosing the right procedure for the right patient has never been more important or more complex.
This webinar reviews the latest evidence guiding glaucoma treatment decisions and applies it to real clinical cases. Participants will gain a practical framework for matching each patient to the intervention most likely to achieve a successful outcome.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Summarize current evidence on the efficacy and safety of SLT, MIGS, and minimally invasive bleb filtering surgery across glaucoma types and stages.
- Identify patient factors, including disease severity, target IOP, angle anatomy, lens status, medication burden, and adherence, that favour SLT, MIGS, or filtering surgery.
- Apply a stepwise decision framework to clinical cases to choose the most appropriate intervention for a given patient.
- Recognize common intraoperative and postoperative complications of each approach and describe strategies to prevent and manage them.
CanMEDS Roles
Medical Expert: Integrate current evidence with patient-specific clinical findings to select and carry out the most appropriate glaucoma intervention, from laser therapy to incisional surgery.
Communicator: Use shared decision-making to explain the expected benefits, risks, and recovery of each treatment option, ensuring the chosen intervention reflects the patient’s values, goals, and ability to manage follow-up care.
