They will share with us findings in their paper “A Human-Centered Evaluation of Deep Learning for Diabetic Retinopathy.” As a UX researcher, Emma specializes in uncovering insights that inform strategy and inspire exceptional user experiences. Richa is Program Manager with Google Health, working on Healthcare AI in the Asia Pacific region to transform access to and make an impact in healthcare through the application of machine learning products, especially in resource poor settings.

En plus des résumés sur papier (exposés oraux), nous sommes heureux de proposer deux formes de présentation supplémentaire :

• Affiches électroniques : Dites adieu aux tubes d’affiches et à l’impression : toutes les affiches acceptées seront offertes en format électronique.
• Vidéos d’interventions chirurgicales : Montrez vos techniques chirurgicales en soumettant une vidéo. La SCO accepte maintenant les vidéos d’interventions chirurgicales qui seront présentées dans le même espace que les affiches électroniques (durée maximale des vidéos : cinq (5) minutes).

Le Congrès annuel de la SCO affiche habituellement un taux d’acceptation de 80 % et plus, les résumés comptant pour plus de 50 % de toutes les présentations. Avec tant de résumés, il est important que votre recherche se démarque. En rédigeant votre résumé ou révisant votre vidéo, conformez-vous aux étapes suivantes, essentielles pour que votre soumission soit acceptable :

• Respectez toutes les lignes directrices concernant les résumés; assurez-vous de lire et de comprendre les critères de rejet.
• Énumérez tous les auteurs/producteurs et déclarez tous les intérêts financiers de chacun.
• Indiquez que l’approbation éthique a été obtenue, au besoin.
• Soumettez votre résumé pour la séance appropriée de surspécialité.
• Ajoutez un court titre descriptif et évitez les énoncés sans fondement et les renseignements non pertinents.
• Fournissez un résumé clair, concis et exempt d’erreurs.
• Exposés écrits et affiches électroniques :
  • Dans le corps de votre résumé, inscrivez les détails de l’étude sous les rubriques Objet, conception de l’étude, méthodes, résultats et conclusions. Les résumés contenant des « résultats en attente » ou des « conclusions à discuter » seront refusés. Il faut inclure des renseignements sur la taille de l’échantillon, la durée de l’étude, le suivi, les techniques utilisées, etc.

Target Audience:
The intended audience for this activity is ophthalmologists and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Overview:
Visual outcomes in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic retinopathy (DR) have been greatly enhanced through the integration of anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapies into treatment protocols. In DR, early intervention with anti-VEGF therapies has demonstrated significant slowing of disease progression and a reduction in vision threatening complications. In those patients with nAMD, significant visual acuity gains have been demonstrated, yet treatment burden often leads to reduced patient adherence, resulting in suboptimal outcomes. Dosing strategies aimed at extending the time between dosing intervals while maintaining early visual acuity gains are evolving. In this educational activity, experts in the field will summarize newer anti-VEGF injection protocols that may improve the long-term management of DR and nAMD, as well as examine real-world clinical data that report on patient-related and anatomical factors that influence outcomes in patients being treated for nAMD and DR.
